Stories

Throughout history, families in Ireland have built up their own oral histories and passed them down through the generations. Those ever-evolving narratives have become legends and have long enhanced the rich tradition of storytelling. As people emigrated to America and elsewhere, custom was to carry a piece of clay from the land in their pocket and their stories in their heart. Riffing on that custom, Katie
McD is creating her own oral history through song, which she’s carried with her throughout her vast and varied travels. But no matter where she goes and however long she’s away, her music is rooted in and inspired by the community of poets, scholars and musicians that fuel the vibrant cultural crossroads of
her native Galway.

A Scene from Stories of the Fairy FolkStories of the Fairy Folk is a documentary questioning our beliefs and challenging the foundation of our traditions. Lindsay Pinchbeck shows that the story tellers allow us to consider the importance of the fairies and more importantly in what we believe.
